I love bananas; I used to eat them all the time.  That was, until I was about 6 months pregnant.

About 30 minutes after eating a banana I started getting really bad stomach cramps.  I was doubled over and in a lot o pain.  Not knowing that it was the banana that caused it, I called my doctor and went in for a check up to make sure everything was okay with the baby.  All was well and the baby’s heartbeat was strong.

The next day I had another banana and again within 30 minutes the same doubled over cramps came back.  Now, I realized it was something I ate and had a feeling it was the banana, so later that day I had another banana and within 30 minutes the cramps were back.

I have “tested” the banana allergy periodically for the pas 16 years and every time I get the same cramps.  Anything I ate with banana, banana flavoring (artificial or real), or touching a banana (like fruit salad) brought on those cramps.  Hence, I decided that having those cramps was not worth me eating a banana that I loved so much.

Last year my stepdaughter taught us how to clear allergy stress syndromes at home and how to clear each other at home. We bought a medallion and started clearing each other of different things.

Now, keep in mind that it had been about 16 years since I had truly eaten anything with banana in it and since I love bananas that was the first thing I wanted my husband to clear me for.  He cleared me of the banana the first night we brought the medallion home and I was so scared to eat a banana because of the horrible cramps that I took me a couple of days before I mustered up enough courage to take a bite of one.  After making the decision to see if this medallion really worked, I took a bite of a banana and after 30 minutes there were no cramps.  Bite after bite I was waiting for the cramps to start up and nothing happened.  I have been eating bananas, banana bread, banana cream pie, banana pudding and anything else with bananas in it ever since I was cleared, and the cramps are gone.

The medallion worked!  And I’m so thankful to be able to eat bananas again.
